Definition: Homebrew Computer Club


An informal group of hobbyists interested in promoting computers for the masses. Founded in 1975 by Gordon French and Fred Moore, Homebrew Computer Club members first met at a Community Computer Center in Menlo Park, California. The initial meeting was held just a few months after the announcement of the Altair 8800 computer kit, which came with Microsoft's BASIC interpreter. See Altair.

Some Notable Members
